Services

Thoughtful design. Responsible AI. Practical support.

We help organisations shape products, services and AI experiences around the people they affect.

From early questions to hands-on design and delivery, safer.design brings human-centred design and ethical thinking into everyday decisions. We consider what’s useful, what could cause harm, and what people need to feel informed, respected and in control.

How we can help

Responsible AI strategy & advice

Find where AI can add value—and what needs care.

AI introduces new possibilities and new responsibilities. We help you explore where it makes sense for your organisation, understand the implications for people, and turn broad ambitions into a clear direction.

We can help with:

  • Identifying and prioritising AI opportunities around real human needs.
  • Exploring potential impacts, unintended consequences and trade-offs.
  • Defining principles to guide responsible AI adoption and design.
  • Bringing stakeholders together around a shared direction and practical next steps.

Human-centred research & co-design

Understand the people behind the decisions.

Responsible design starts with listening. We explore people’s needs, behaviours and contexts, involving those who will use, deliver or be affected by an experience.

We can help with:

  • Interviews, workshops and research to understand needs and experiences.
  • Mapping journeys, services and the systems around them.
  • Co-designing with customers, staff and affected communities.
  • Exploring expectations around AI, trust, transparency and human support.
  • Turning research into clear priorities and design opportunities.

Product, service & AI experience design

Turn thoughtful ideas into experiences that work.

We bring strategy into the details of how a product or service behaves. From concepts and prototypes to interfaces and delivery, we design for usability, clarity and meaningful human control.

We can help with:

  • Product and service concepts, journeys and workflows.
  • UX and UI design for digital products and AI-enabled experiences.
  • Prototyping and testing ideas with the people who will use them.
  • Designing explanations, choices, feedback and routes to human help.
  • Working with product, engineering and data teams through delivery.

Ethical design reviews

Make space to ask the difficult questions.

An experience can be easy to use and still create pressure, confusion or harm. We review existing products, services and concepts through a human-centred and ethical design lens, helping teams identify concerns and make practical improvements.

We can help with:

  • Reviewing journeys and interfaces for manipulative patterns and unclear choices.
  • Assessing how people understand AI’s role, limitations and outputs.
  • Identifying gaps in consent, transparency, feedback and user control.
  • Exploring who may be excluded, disadvantaged or overlooked.
  • Prioritising design changes and questions that need further investigation.

Workshops & team capability

Build confidence to put principles into practice.

Ethical design and responsible AI become useful when teams can apply them to their own work. Our facilitated sessions create space to explore challenges, question assumptions and make decisions together.

We can help with:

  • Introductions to ethical design and human-centred AI.
  • AI ethics workshops grounded in your product or service.
  • Co-designing practical principles and decision-making tools.
  • Exploring potential harms, scenarios and unintended consequences.
  • Aligning teams around opportunities, responsibilities and next steps.

Principles that carry through to delivery

Care, context and consequences guide how we work.

We ask who benefits, who might be overlooked, what happens when something goes wrong, and how people can question or challenge an outcome. Those questions inform the research, the strategy and the details of the experience.
